If you’re staying near Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, check out the Renaissance. This is the view from my room. It can be a little noisy, but it’s worth it to watch the world’s busiest airport operating in its full glory, especially after dark. Click for a larger view, and see if you can spot the Delta flight that’s just taken off from the other side of the field.
That’s the new international terminal on the left.
The tower, by the way, is the third tallest in the world and the tallest in North America.
Wow, impressive. Can you see Marine One from there?
Hi Larry,
I’m told it lands right next door at one of the private terminals, along with a whole bunch of USAF transport aircraft.
I apologize for asking a question such as that. I made the mistake of watching a bunch of episodes of the series Homeland when it was offered for free on my TV.
There was an episode where a sniper was going after Marine One; positioning himself from a house located next to an airport. I thought of that when looking at your picture.
Your picture shows distances in the expanse of that airport beyond belief, and I imagine, beyond reach of a sniper. But then the show had to make it up, or risk getting shut down.
The series itself left such a bad taste in my mouth that I still haven’t been able to cleanse it from my mind.
I will try harder.
There are no houses right next to the airport. They would plan a flight route across that enormous airport to make it virtually impossible to target with a sniper rifle. Plus, I’m going to assume Marine Corps One is no ordinary helo.
